Medacs Healthcare is seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join an Acute Care Team in a rural town in southwest Queensland. This locum role involves providing short-term, intensive mental health support to individuals experiencing acute episodes, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver timely and effective care.

Role Details

Contract Length: Minimum 4-12 weeks availability, this allows for an adequate orientation and the opportunity to provide continuing care.

Locations: Our clients are based in various locations in Regional and Remote Southwest QLD

When: Start dates vary and are flexible to your availability. We want to find the perfect contract for you, whilst working with the facility and their staffing requirements.

Requirements to apply

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
• A minimum of two years' experience in mental health community settings, preferably in acute mental health settings
• Strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to work independently in rural and remote environments
• Commitment to completing onboarding requirements
• Willingness to travel and work in regional or remote areas
• QLDH Experience highly desirable
• Full Australian working rights

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health assessments and risk evaluations
• Deliver evidence-based interventions for clients in acute distress
• Provide crisis management and short-term care planning
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, GPs, and allied health professionals
• Support clients in hospital, community, and outreach settings
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to case reviews
