Public Sector People are working with a government organisation in the Sunshine Coast , who are seeking an experienced AO4 Workplace Health and Safety Officer on an initial 3 month temp contract + extensions with the opportunity to go direct with the company on a permanent position

• AO4 Workplace Health and Safety officer
• High Profile government Department
• Initial 3 month contract + Extension / Perm Placement
• Caloundra - Sunshine Coast
• Attractive pay rates of $58-64 per hour + Super

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Monitor operational processes for compliance with standards for example, systems review and project audits and inspections.
• This is a role where you will demonstrate strategic, innovative and accountable leadership within the HS&W Operations Team and to a range of Branches, and the wider business. ensuring legislative compliance and HS&W objectives and targets are delivered.
• You will provide high level technical advice and support to the Health & Safety Program and other stakeholders in relation to these matters.
• Provide advice and operational assistance to Project Managers, and staff on systems issues e.g. the preparation of various project plans.
• Ensure the uniform implementation of various systems, including but not limited to Highway 21, Environment, Quality and Safety and ensure they comply with standards e.g. systems review and project audits and inspections.
• Report to management on implementation progress and system performance.
• You will provide outstanding leadership in identifying emerging H&S issues, embedding H&S risk management, systems and procedures and championing active engagement across organisation

About you:

• Cert IV Qualified and at least 5 years' experience in WHS
• Background in Internal and external auditing of WHS compliance frameworks
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to assess WHS effectiveness, monitor learning initiatives, and enhance program delivery.'
• Previous Government experience is an advantage
