PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

Are you passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people through supporting their carers?

Are you an experienced practitioner in Out of Home Care or Family and Community Services?

You are exactly who we're looking for! Here is your chance to step into a role where your actions create positive outcomes for young people and their foster or kinship carers. This is an opportunity with a continuous focus on learning, developing, and upskilling one another to achieve great results.

The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people, and families. We particularly focus on serving vulnerable communities in Liverpool, the ACT and regional, rural NSW.

The Role

Anglicare NSW is seeking a Carer Support Practitioner (Foster and Kinship) to join our team in an ongoing capacity. You will work to grow and develop our pool of authorised carers by undertaking carer recruitment activities, assessments, and organising carer training programs to ensure they can provide therapeutic parenting to children and young people.

You will work closely with Foster and Kinship Carers alongside the Permanency Support Program (PSP) Foster and Kinship Care Team to support high-quality care arrangements for children and young people.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop and execute community engagement strategies and partnerships for carer recruitment.

Participate in foster and kinship carer assessment interviews and activities.

Contribute to carer reviews and assist in organising carer events, including training sessions.

Assist in implementing Therapeutic Response Plans, especially with carers.

Collaborate on creating a carer-to-carer mentoring program and overseeing its progress.

If you bring:

A Diploma in Community Services, human services, social work, or welfare or equivalent.

Experience in working with children, young people, their families, foster and kinship carers.

Experience in cultural strengths-based practice with Aboriginal people, families, and communities.

Desirable

Trained in Step by Step and Shared Lives (a suite of foster care and relative kinship training and assessment tools produced by ACWA).

Availability to be able to work across numerous sites if required

Here's where your journey begins. We are excitedly awaiting your arrival!

For all enquiries, please get in touch with Senior Carer Support Coordinator, Jennifer Hornby, 0491 053 985 or Senior Carer Practitioner, Linlea Clark-Samrani, 0427 619 263 (during business hours).

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants are welcome to apply.

Applicants are required to undertake the psychometric profiling instrument, obtain a Working with Children clearance through the Office of the Children's Guardian (NSW), and a satisfactory National Criminal History Check, which will be conducted by HR.

Applications close 26 Sep 2025.

About Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT

Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia

As the social justice arm of the Anglican Church, Anglicare’s mission is to tackle disadvantage, helping children and families break free from the cycle of poverty.

Our work focuses on helping children, young people and families who are homeless or in crisis. We do this through our Survive and Thrive approach.

We also support parents to make sure their children are school ready, and stay engaged with school and post-school training.

The Survive and Thrive approach addresses both short term and long term needs.

•The Survive component meets immediate, critical needs through services like emergency food relief and crisis accommodation. •These services are often an entry point from which people can be directed to further services and assistance.

•The Thrive component meets longer term social, emotional, spiritual and educational needs to break the cycle of poverty.

These services focus on children and young people in the context of their families to help them avoid returning to crisis.

We want to see a reduction in the number of children needing to enter the Care and Protection system through early intervention services that strengthen family relationships.
