Sydney Montessori School is a specialist independent school located in the Sutherland Shire, in a wonderful spacious setting close to Gymea station. The school has been operating since 1981, and prides itself on offering an excellent Montessori education from birth to age 12 in Primary. The School has also recently opened a small Secondary program (students in Years 7-11) which will progressively grow to Year 12, in 2026.

About the role

The role involves working in a Preschool classroom environment, ages 3-6 years, supporting the experienced class Teacher to provide a beautiful Montessori environment in which each child can grow to their full potential in all areas of their development.

The position is suitable for those who are interested in working with the children up to Kindergarten level, and for those who are willing/wanting to become a Montessori 3-6 teacher as it offers high level of Montessori practice. The role of the preschool assistant includes preparation of the indoor and outdoor environments, some administrative tasks and participation as a member of the educational team discussing and planning for individual children.

The position would suit an enthusiastic person, experienced or willing to undertake Montessori training. Experience or knowledge or familiarity with a Montessori environment or keen to learn Montessori principles may be an advantage.

This position is full time and the hours of work are 8am - 4pm.

Candidates must hold an ACECQA approved Certificate 3 or Diploma in Children's Services.

Skills and Experience

The position would suit an enthusiastic person who is familiar with the Montessori environment, or, willing to undertake Montessori training and keen to learn Montessori principles. Applicants must hold a current working with Children check clearance, and ACECQA approved certifications.
