Mansfield Steiner School is seeking to appoint dynamic and suitably qualified teachers to the following music positions:

Classroom Music Teacher (Primary, Secondary or IB Music) 0.6 FTE

Cello Teacher 0.6 FTE

The successful candidate will have a strong background in music education and based on the experience of the applicant, the classroom music role could include primary, secondary or International Baccalaureate music. The cello and classroom music role may be combined into a 1.0 FTE position for the right candidate.

These are fixed-term positions, beginning in Term 1, for the 2026 school year. There is a possibility of extension and/or ongoing employment for a suitable applicant.

Classroom Music Teacher

The successful applicant will have:

A passion for music education and experience working in a classroom setting. Experience in either Primary, Secondary or International Baccalaureate is highly desirable.

Strong background in Kodaly and/or Orff pedagogy and choral skills.

Outstanding interpersonal and relationship skills and the ability to relate to children and young people.

have a demonstrated commitment to Steiner education or a willingness to learn.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience.

Relevant qualifications and/or training in child safety and wellbeing.

Current VIT Registration.

Cello Teacher

The successful applicant will:

have the ability to teach cello to a high level.

ability to teach other instruments (violin & viola) is an advantage.

have a strong working knowledge of classical cello repertoire as well as a variety of other styles including folk and improvisation.

be comfortable teaching Class 3 to Class 12 students.

have the ability to facilitate and direct string ensembles if required.

participate in school music events as required from time to time.

have a demonstrated commitment to Steiner education or a willingness to learn.

have excellent communication skills.

have the ability to work successfully within a team.

have a current WWCC and Police Check (VIT Registration an advantage)

General duties & requirements:

Be at school for the committed hours of employment and be punctual for lessons duties and meetings.

Attend Staff and faculty meetings, as well as other relevant meetings as determined by the School Leadership Team.

Be rostered on for yard duty, supervising children before, during and after school as required.

Actively work as part of a team, both with Faculty and the School as a whole.

Attend and participate in whole school festivals, open days and fairs.

Attend and participate in curriculum/staff development days and in-service or training courses.

Be available to attend relevant meetings, workshops and conferences outside school hours.

Follow up and be familiar with all school policies.

Maintain professional standards at all times, particularly with regard to communication, confidentiality, collegiality and the School Ethos.

Commitment to work within Victorian Child Safe Standards.

Have appropriate qualifications.
