Are you a nurturing and enthusiastic early childhood educator ready to make a significant impact on young hearts and minds? Home Hill Community Kindergarten is seeking a passionate Director/Teacher to join our dedicated team in Home Hill, QLD.

Location: Home Hill, QLD

Position: Full-time / Part-time (negotiable) Term time only – no early or late shifts.

Start Date: Flexible arrangements can be made for start date. Option for immediate start in part-time role with ongoing support provided until early 2026, transitioning to full-time (4-day week) in 2026. Option to start in the new year, still with support from current Director/Teacher.

Remuneration: $35.8988 - $57.2073 per hour. 37.5 hours per week over 4 days (Mon-Thurs). In additional to standard wage – Director, Nominated Supervisor, Educational Leader and Senior Teacher (if applicable) allowances and yearly QKS ECT Retention payment.

About the Role

What We’re Looking For

As a combined Director/Teacher, you will have the unique opportunity to guide our educational vision while directly engaging with children. This dual role entails a balanced focus on both educational excellence and leadership responsibilities:

· Plan and implement a high-quality kindergarten program aligned with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).

· Foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members to create an inclusive, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment.

· Monitor and document children’s progress and development while guiding educators and staff in providing a child-safe environment.

· Manage the Centre's operations in accordance with policies and standards, actively promoting our objectives and maintaining open communication with staff.

· Supervise, mentor, and support educators, coordinating staff development and training to uphold high standards of early childhood education.

· Recommend the engagement, appointment, and dismissal of staff while counseling them in cases of non-compliance with accepted work patterns, behaviour, and standards.

· Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, quality standards, and contemporary practices while maintaining the Centre’s safety and health.

· Participate in administrative duties, including budgeting and community engagement, while closely monitoring enrolments and community needs. Prepare regular reports for the Executive and/or Committee on Centre operations and assist in the preparation of the annual budget, providing necessary advice and guidance. Support with administrative tasks from the development of the new CSO role and the service administrator.

· Prepare or supervise the preparation of relevant records for the Centre's operations, including program and administrative documents

· Be proactive in identifying community needs and changes, reporting them to the Committee to inform decisions affecting the Centre.

· Uphold the safety, rights and wellbeing of all children and promote a culture of child safety with a zero-tolerance approach to child maltreatment, abuse or neglect.

· Maintain confidentiality while dealing with sensitive issues involving parents and staff, ensuring that all staff and committee members understand and adhere to confidentiality protocols.

· Authorize expenditure in accordance with the Budget for the Centre, subject to Committee approval for larger items of equipment.

· Actively promote the organization and the Centre in the community through various channels as opportunities arise.

· A genuine passion for working with children and their families.

· Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent, recognized by ACECQA.

· Current Queensland Teacher Registration (QCT) and First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training.

· Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and recognized Child Protection training or willingness to obtain.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated understanding of child-centered, play-based learning approaches and QKLG.
