About the Business Unit:

Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex is a medium security facility that houses a mix of sentenced and remand men and is located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The role of the facility is to contain men in custody safely, securely and humanely, focusing on the individual needs of the men with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system. The facility has a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes and provides a range of engaged services. Our highly skilled workforce provides supervision and case management and are dedicated to enhancing opportunities to strengthen rehabilitation pathways.

The role of the Vocational Services Team is to prepare people for release and to enhance post release employment opportunities through integrated on the job training, targeted educational opportunities and personal development programs and activities.

About the Role:

In the role of a Remand Program Facilitator, some of your duties will include:

  • Coordinating and facilitating psychoeducation and/or skills-based programs as required within the Region
  • Monitoring program referrals from Marngoneet Correctional Centre (Including Karreenga) to ensure adherence to the remand pathway programs service delivery model
  • Consulting and liaising with prison staff, Offender Service staff, OBP staff and contracted program providers in relation to program delivery requirements.

  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a prison setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of transition issues and needs of prisoners.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Appropriate qualifications and/or experience in the welfare services area desirable.
