About The Orange Door
The Orange Door is a welcoming, inclusive, and safe entry point for:
Women, children, and families experiencing family violence
Perpetrators seeking accountability and change
Families needing support with the care, development and wellbeing of children and young people
Our integrated team brings together staff from Family Safety Victoria (FSV), Community Service Organisations, Aboriginal services, and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) to provide holistic, client-centred responses.
About the Role
As an Orange Door Practitioner – Child Wellbeing, you’ll work closely with families to ensure children and young people are safe, supported, and thriving. Guided by the Best Interests Case Practice Model (BICPM), you will:
Undertake assessments and planning to promote safety, stability, and wellbeing
Apply professional judgement to address complex needs and risks
Work collaboratively with other practitioners and service partners
Place children’s voices, culture, and development at the centre of every decision
You’ll be supported day-to-day by a Team Leader, with additional guidance from Practice Leaders and Gippsland Lakes Complete Health management.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
Experience supporting children and families with complex needs in areas such as family services, child protection, family violence, mental health, disability, housing, or alcohol and other drugs
A degree in Social Work (or equivalent), or currently working towards one (in line with Recommendation 209 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence)
A compassionate, strengths-based approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
