Currawong has been in operation for 20 years and is renowned as being a manufacturer of premium products for aerial vehicles. It has repeat customers located around the world including the US, Canada, Italy, UK, Switzerland, Japan and Vietnam. Located 15 minutes south of Hobart, Currawong has an engine test and assembly facility, machine shop and an electronics assembly facility.

Due to Currawong’s sustained growth in sales, this position is a newly created role within the business.

Key responsibilities:

· Manage Currawong’s inventory of raw materials, set up process for reviewing actual stock levels versus minimum stock levels, conduct regular stock takes to ensure the accuracy of the inventory

· Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Currawong’s key suppliers and customers

· Manage the purchasing of raw materials including negotiating on price and lead times, place Purchase Orders and manage forward supply contracts

· Where a difficult conflict arises with a supplier or customer, work with the General Manager to resolve the issue in a respectful and professional manner

· With assistance from technicians/engineers, develop incoming goods inspection procedures for key raw materials

· Quarantine incoming goods which do not meet inspection standards

· Work with general manager to process incoming orders from customers

· Estimate lead-times for sales orders based on production scheduling information

· Manage Currawong’s production schedule ensuring that customer orders are completed on time and meet the required quality standard, provide lead times to customers for new orders

· Provide regular reports to the Executive Team on production related key performance indicators

· Provide clear direction to technicians for production priorities

· Work with accounts team to schedule upcoming customer invoices

· Identify and implement continuous improvements to Currawong’s production planning system

Key attributes:

· Excellent spreadsheeting and data management skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.

· Attention to detail, especially around creating sales orders for the correct part number, and ordering raw materials

· Making estimations with limited information (e.g. projecting lead times)

· Enjoying a dynamic environment (e.g. urgent request from a customer means that the production schedule needs to be changed)

· Excellent communication skills

· Working across the business from machinists/technicians, engineering team, admin support team and General Manager

· Negotiation skills

Other requirements:

· There may be occasional need to work early in the morning or in the evening due to the time zone differences between Australia and our customers

· Baseline security screening may be required (via the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency)
