Step 2 Allied Health is a registered NDIS provider located in Southwest Victoria working to support NDIS participants to meet their goals. Our office locations are based in Geelong, Colac and Warrnambool. The Step 2 Allied Health team also includes Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Counsellors, Therapy Assistants and Support Workers.

Position Overview:
Under the NDIS, Specialist Behavioural Intervention Support is an intensive support intended to address significantly harmful or persistent behaviours of concern, in a way that reduces and eliminates the need for the use of regulated restrictive practices. The service has a principal aim of improving quality of life and ensuring that behaviours of concern and regulated restrictive practices are not a barrier for someone in reaching their goals or enjoying a good quality of life.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Work with people and their supports in a person-centred way to understand the person’s needs, skills and circumstances
Complete thorough risk assessments relating to behaviours of concern and restrictive practices and develop Interim Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
Undertake Comprehensive Behaviour Assessments to understand the function and contributing factors, causes and drivers of behaviours of concern and develop comprehensive BSPS based upon this data
Develop skill-building plans and support the person to learn new skills and achieve the goals they want to achieve
Support NDIS Providers to obtain authorisation of plans which contain Regulated Restrictive Practices and then ensure BSPs are lodged with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission in a timely manner, in accordance with State and Federal legislation
Monitor, evaluate and review Behaviour Support Plans regularly with the person and their supporters to ensure they are effective and meeting the person’s needs
Engage in multi-disciplinary care team meetings to support participants
Attend and engage in regular internal supervision, professional development and team meetings
Maintain a cumulative average achievement of expected billable hours.
Prioritise and participate in peer supervision and 1:1 clinical supervision
Key Selection Criteria:
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ Degree in relevant field of practice with postgraduate qualifications or further training in Positive Behaviour Support or other relevant specialisations, OR
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of practice with at least 2 years postgraduate experience working with people with disability and their supports;

Essential:
NDIS Screening Workers Check
NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate of Completion
Satisfactory Working with Children's Check (Employee)
Current Driver's Licence and own car
Satisfactory National Police Check for Employment in Disability
Covid-19 Certificate of vaccination
Preferred:
Current registration with relevant professional body (if you are an Allied Health professional under AHPRA, this is mandatory)
Currently registered with the NDIS Commission as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
Previous experience in a Specialist Behaviour Support role is beneficial but not mandatory.
Demonstrated experience in support planning, working within a person-centred framework.
