The Agricultural and Agritech Technician conducts experiments and research on our farm to improve production in crops. Agricultural technicians set up experiments and coordinate the operation of farming fields with the goal of determining the effects the environment has on crop yield, disease and growth patterns. Often, the data from these experiments must then be organised, analysed and prepared for reporting.

Job Tasks and Duties:

· Direct and coordinate farm activities and procedures

· Manage repairs and maintenance for plant and equipment

· Research materials and equipment for information such as prices, durability and running standards

· Identify pathogenic micro-organisms and insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops and animals and oversee relevant week and pest control measures

· Develop new methods of planting, fertilising and harvesting

· Order supplies and equipment, such as chemicals and fertilisers

· Manage grain storage data, collect and analyse grain data to be able to make changes to the future cropping rotations and nutrient requirements

· Analyse whole farm data and liaise with benchmarking group to understand business performance

· Analyse grain and fibre to set and maintain standards of quality

· Liaise with farm advisers as required

· Organise contractors for jobs as required
