- Salary range: $90,871 - $101,868 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
In this role you will be required to provide high quality legal services in a therapeutic court setting. You will conduct complex casework, advocate and provide legal information and advice to clients impacted by drugs and alcohol (including those in custody or on Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders) in the Magistrates' Court Drug Court.
You will also be required to assist the Senior Lawyer in the Drug Court with mentoring and training other VLA staff, as well as assist in the development and implementation of policies and strategies relating to the delivery of Drug Court services.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience dealing with people with drug and alcohol dependency and/or a diagnosis of a mental illness, intellectual disability, acquired brain injury or a neurological impairment.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the practice of criminal law.
- High level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, internal and external stakeholders.
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
