Grampians Sandstone Quarry Pty Ltd is a privately owned boutique sandstone quarry located near Dunkeld, Victoria. It is the last operational 'dimension sandstone' quarry in Victoria and is situated near the Grampians National Park. The sandstone from this quarry is used in various applications by architects, builders, stonemasons, landscapers, and sculptors.

Based in Dunkeld and reporting to the Senior Quarry Operator, we seek an Experienced Machinery Operator to assist with all aspects of the quarry operations, including stone extraction, adherence to safety protocols, and delivery of high-quality sandstone products.

Training will be provided to the successful candidate in the specialised process of cutting sandstone blocks.

Key duties will include:

Excavation and extraction of sandstone materials from the quarry

Sorting and separating different types of materials based on their size and quality

Stockpiling and storing materials in designated areas within the quarry

Hauling and transporting extracted materials from the quarry to a storage facility, processing plant or other destination

Ensure that production targets and KPIs are met

Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program for all equipment

Maintenance of tracks/roads and management of erosion

What we're looking for:

Extensive heavy machinery operations experience: the successful candidate will be proficient in using various types of machinery and equipment commonly employed in quarry operations. This includes familiarity with loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and crushers and knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures.

Strong safety focus: Safety is of utmost importance. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and be able to implement practices to prevent accidents and injuries.

Excellent problem-solving skills: Quarry operations can encounter unexpected challenges and setbacks that require quick thinking and problem-solving abilities. We're looking for a candidate who is able to identify issues, assess potential solutions, and implement necessary corrective actions to maintain productivity and efficiency.

An understanding of the processes involved in extracting, processing, and distributing quarry materials would be highly advantageous; however, previous quarry experience is not required. Training in sandstone extraction and processing methodologies will be available.
