About the role

ReStart program supports people who have served a sentence of three months or less. The Intake and Assessment Worker will assist and support the ReStart program with the intake of clients. In this role, you would work closely with all members of the ReStart program. The key responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Creating case files for all new clients on ACSO's client information management database, OSCA and Corrections Victoria (CV) databases, including Reintegration Pathways, PIMS and e-justice
  • Receiving client referrals and fielding relevant enquiries
  • Assisting with client allocations to forensic case workers as directed
  • Completing documentation and administration on OSCA and CV databases for all allocated client referrals
  • Completing basic independent living skills, quality of life and other related needs assessments
  • Liaising with external providers and stakeholders where appropriate with regards to intake, service planning and exit planning timelines
  • Providing an after-care response to clients for up to 3 months, after they have been exited from the service.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum diploma qualifications and/or experience in criminology, community services or disability/mental health
  • Demonstrated skills in individual record keeping, and gathering and recording of statistics
  • Strong report and note writing ability
  • Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and work with minimum supervision
  • The ability to communicate, work with, and understand the needs of the client group
  • A demonstrated knowledge of the relevant and current legislation relating to the client group
  • A solid understanding of the criminal justice system, particularly the post-release process
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to negotiate, liaise and consult with a wide range of stakeholders, both in government and non-government organisations
