Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is Central Australia’s primary acute care service with a catchment area of approximately 50,000 residents across Alice Springs and up to 50 remote community locations. A major component of Alice Springs hospital’s acute services is Diabetes service within medical services.

Central Australia has one of the highest prevalence of Diabetes and Renal disease across the Australia especially within the First Nations patient cohort.

Unique to Alice Springs and Central Australia is the very high number of patients living with Renal and Diabetes mellitus as chronic diseases and young clients when compared with National averages elsewhere across Australia of this service.

The position is aimed at being instrumental to autonomously and collaboratively provide comprehensive, safe patient centred care to significantly improve management of Diabetes and prevent minimise complications thereby improving outcomes Across Central Australia Region.
