About the job
Here's a rare and exciting opportunity to lead a key operational division for a major heavy vehicle group in Toowoomba. We are seeking a highly skilled and organised Pre-Delivery Manager, Operations Manager, Service Manager or Panel Shop Manager to oversee a critical, hands-on role that goes beyond standard new truck delivery preparation. This is a hybrid position that will see you leading a large workshop focused on truck fit-outs, ensuring every vehicle is perfectly tailored for its purpose before it leaves the yard. This is a structured leadership role—not an entrepreneurial one—that demands a meticulous approach to planning and execution.

As the central hub for all pre-delivery modifications, your role is pivotal to the company's success, ensuring the smooth flow of every electrical, fabrication, and paint and panel job. You'll be responsible for a large, multi-disciplinary team of around 30 staff and will play a crucial part in maintaining the high standards and strong culture that the team is known for.

The company has a stable and skilled team in place, so your leadership will be focused on leveraging this existing talent to drive continued efficiency and excellence.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading and mentoring a large team of diverse tradespeople
• Overseeing all operational planning for truck fit-outs
• Managing business performance and some unique quoting
• Ensuring smooth internal workflow to support truck sales

Required skills:

• Proven leadership and people management skills
• Background in the heavy transport or a related industry
• Highly organised with excellent planning abilities
• Strong communication and execution management skills
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role
• A mechanical background is highly desirable

Previous exposure to Trucks in a retail or wholesale environment would be advantageous for this position. Candidates who have experience with brands such as Kenworth, Volvo, Western Star, MAN, Mercedes Benz Trucks, Fuso, Iveco, Hino, Isuzu, Scania, Freightliner or similar are strongly encouraged to apply.
A competitive salary package is on offer, including a base salary of around $130,000 to $150,000 (negotiable) for the right candidate, plus a potential bonus, company car, phone, and laptop.
