Purpose of role
The Assembler is responsible for accurately assembling gates and related components using assembly drawings and established procedures. The role demands attention to detail, reliable execution, and the ability to identify and solve minor issues during the build process. Assemblers are a key part of Jagfence's workflow, ensuring finished products meet dimensional and visual standards. Main duties and responsibilities
Follow all workshop safety protocols, including correct PPE use and hazard awareness.
Assemble gates and components using assembly drawings and approved procedures.
Interpret drawings confidently to ensure correct part placement, alignment, and fastening.
Use hand tools and equipment (e.g. drills, rivet guns, clamps, tape measures) safely and effectively.
Carry out basic wiring tasks during assembly—low-voltage only, no specialist electrical work required.
Check dimensions and alignment throughout the build to maintain quality and consistency.
Identify and resolve minor fitment or fastening issues, escalating when needed.
Keep the work area clean and organized, returning tools and equipment after use.
Monitor stock levels of fasteners, consumables, and components—report when low or needing replenishment.
Support general workshop operations, including material handling and shared tasks.
Other duties
Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required.
A forklift ticket is desirable (must be licensed to operate on-site).
A Construction White Card is desirable but not essential.
A basic understanding of low-voltage systems or electronics is an advantage.
Familiarity with gate automation systems or related hardware is highly valued.
Experience
Practical experience in a workshop, assembly, or mechanical environment is valued.
Confident in reading and interpreting assembly drawings.
Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools (e.g. drills, grinders, rivet guns).
Hands-on involvement with fitting or assembling components to semi-tight tolerances.
Experience working with production schedules or within a team-based workflow.

Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on accuracy and alignment.
Understands and follows safe workshop practices and proper PPE use.
Confident in interpreting assembly drawings and following defined procedures.
Competent in the use of hand and power tools for assembly tasks.
