Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the position of Health Promotion Officer based at Dubbo to join our expanding health promotions team. The position will provide administrative and operation support to the Events Manager in the delivery of high-quality health promotion and education projects. The role will participate in the planning and delivery of the Fair Dinkum Choices ™ program and all other health promotions related to CTG Aboriginal Health.
NOTE: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identified position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
Key Selection Criteria
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with ability to provide proof of Aboriginality (mandatory),
Experience in Health promotions and/or hold an AQTF qualification as an Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner (or currently studying)
Experience in the design and delivery of health promotion and primary prevention initiatives within a Community Health or related setting
Willing to travel outside of normal business hours and undertake weekend work as required
Demonstrated work experience in aboriginal communities and within an ACCHO
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, communicate clearly and effectively with a range of clinical staff and stakeholders, and to be respectful and considerate of stakeholder’s needs
Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people with knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal people and Aboriginal organisations
Ability to prioritise workload
Excellent organisational skills
Demonstrates a commitment to the CAHS code of conduct, equal employment opportunity, work health & safety and cultural safety framework
Current nationally coordinated criminal history check, NSW working with children’s check and unrestricted class C or P2 driver’s licence
Desirable:
Aboriginal Health worker/practitioner registration with AHPA
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Proof of vaccination must be provided upon commencement of appointment
Remuneration and Benefits
Attractive remuneration based on qualifications and experience plus a monthly RDO.
