THE ROLE
Macquarie University College is seeking to appoint a qualified and highly experienced Academic Communication and Academic English Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven teacher to enhance and extend education excellence at Macquarie University College.

Key requirements of the role, include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating the teaching teams,
  • Contributing to ongoing curriculum development and improvement of delivery of the College units and courses,
  • Delivering lessons and workshops across a range of College courses and programs,
  • Preparing and revising learning and teaching resources,
  • Producing high quality assessment tasks,
  • Administration, supervision and marking of assessments, and participation in assessment task moderation and quality assurance processes,
  • Consultation with students and provision of academic advice & support if needed,
  • Consistently monitoring student progress; identifying and following up with students at risk,
  • Contribute to the effective operations of the Macquarie Learning Technologies Platform (iLearn) as required,
  • Comply with relevant professional standards and codes of ethics and EEO and WHS regulations,
  • Engage professionally with colleagues and students and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a passionate, highly skilled teacher with extensive teaching experience at higher education level in the fields of academic communication and academic English to join Macquarie University College. You will have knowledge of the latest developments in learning principles including online and blended learning pedagogies and proven experience in curriculum and assessment design. Your ability to work in a fast paced and vibrant environment and a "Students First" mindset will ensure your success in this role.

To be considered for this position, please apply online by submitting your CV and a separate (2-page maximum) cover letter that demonstrates how you meet the following selection criteria:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Applied Linguistics or TESOL.

  • Extensive experience in teaching academic communication AND academic English units in tertiary settings, preferably in pathway programs.

  • Extensive experience in curriculum and assessment design, and related quality assurance processes.

  • Extensive experience in administration of a unit or program as a subject lead, convenor or similar, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and provide guidance to teaching teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to consult and liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders, such as students, teaching & professional staff, and management team.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, an understanding of Learning Management Systems, such as Moodle, and demonstrated integration of a range of learning technologies into a course or curriculum.

  • Ability to work both independently and co-operatively.
