City of Darwin Rangers play a key role in promoting safety, amenity, and compliance across the municipality through education and enforcement. Responding to a range of community concerns including parking, animal management, abandoned vehicles, unsafe properties, and anti-social behaviour. Rangers conduct patrols, issue infringement notices, and carry out investigations in line with City of Darwin By-Laws and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to public enquiries and complaints relating to parking, animals, safety, and By-Law matters in a timely and professional manner.
Conduct foot or vehicle patrols and issue infringement notices to enforce City of Darwin By-laws, Australian Road Rules, and relevant legislation.
Support animal management programs and other compliance activities aligned with Council policies and strategies.
Maintain accurate records and reporting to support investigations, enforcement, and service improvement.
Liaise with other service agencies, and internal stake holders to support community safety and provide assistance where needed.
Undertake investigations and evidence collection, including statements, interviews, inspections, warrants and seizures.

You are a community-minded person with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering responsive, on-the-ground services that contribute to the safety, wellbeing, and amenity of City of Darwin. Across both levels, you are adaptable, collaborative, and committed to workplace health and safety. You actively contribute to a positive team culture, engage in ongoing learning and performance development, and consistently represent the City of Darwin with integrity and professionalism.
Level 2:
Possession of a Class C Drivers Licence.
National Police Records Check.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Level 3:
Possession of a Class C Drivers Licence.
National Police Records Check.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
A minimum of 2-years' experience working in a front-line service delivery role, or
Certificate IV Government Investigations.

Your hard work will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package and generous leave entitlements. This position has a base salary of $67,736 for Level 2 and $73,789 for Level 3, per annum plus superannuation.
