The Enrolled Nurse (EN) provides nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.
As an Enrolled Nurse working within an Acute Geriatric Evaluation and Management (AGEM) unit, you will be part of a dynamic healthcare team that focuses on providing specialised care to elderly patients with complex health needs. While ENs are typically not involved in making clinical decisions, their role is crucial in supporting nursing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care. There are various opportunities for ENs to contribute effectively in an AGEM unit:
- Supporting Patient Care and Monitoring
- Support with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's)
- Assisting with Cognitive and Behavioural Monitoring
- Assisting in Clinical Procedures and Patient Care
- Coordination and Communication
- Providing Education and Health Promotion
- Training and Development in Specialised Areas

As an EN in an Acute Geriatric Evaluation and Management (AGEM) unit, you have an important role in delivering compassionate and effective care to elderly patients with complex needs. Opportunities for ENs range from supporting day-to-day clinical tasks and patient monitoring to contributing to the education of patients and families. Additionally, there are excellent opportunities for growth and specialisation in geriatric and palliative care, which can lead to more advanced roles in the healthcare system.

Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) covers an area of 11,335 square kilometres extending from Port Macquarie Hastings Local Government Area in the south to Coffs Harbour Local Government Area in the north.
