Job Summary:
PARX is seeking a dedicated and skilled Playground Equipment Maintenance person to ensure the safety, functionality, and longevity of our playground installations. This role involves performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and necessary repairs on a variety of playground equipment. The successful candidate will be provided with a fully equipped vehicle and all necessary tools to carry out duties efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inspections of playground equipment and surfacing to identify hazards, wear and tear, and compliance with Australian Standards (AS 4685:2021; AS4685.0:2017 and AS 4422:2022).
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including tightening fasteners, lubricating moving parts, cleaning equipment, and maintaining protective surfacing (e.g., raking, topping up loose-fill materials).
Diagnose and repair damaged or faulty playground components, such as slides, swings, chains, decks, and structural elements.
Replace worn or broken parts, ensuring all replacements meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Maintain accurate records of all inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs performed, including dates, findings, and actions taken.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle and tools safely and efficiently.
Respond to urgent maintenance requests and address safety concerns promptly.
Collaborate with the PARX team to schedule maintenance and report on equipment status.
Adhere to environmental guidelines for waste disposal and material handling.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Essential:
Proven experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field, with a strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues with playground equipment.
Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and general repair techniques.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
Valid Australian driver's license & Construction White Card with a clean record.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Desirable:
Certification in playground inspection (e.g., Level 1 or Level 2 Playground Inspector).
Knowledge of Australian Standards for Playground Equipment and Surfacing AS 4685:2021 AS4685.0:2017 and AS 4422:2022.
Experience operating small machinery or power tools relevant to maintenance tasks.
First Aid and CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
This position primarily involves outdoor work in various weather conditions.
May require occasional work during evenings or weekends to address urgent repairs or scheduled maintenance.
Regular travel to various playground sites using the company-provided vehicle.
