The Firm
Founded by a former top-tier construction law specialist, this boutique firm has built a strong reputation for delivering personalised legal solutions to builders and developers.
With a close-knit team of around 7 professionals, the firm has expanded its expertise over the years while maintaining a strong focus on building and construction law. The culture is collaborative, relaxed yet professional, and built on trust, flexibility, and genuine support.
Lawyers here enjoy the freedom to work independently, backed by excellent admin support, premium resources, and a stable, respectful work environment. The firm strikes a rare balance - you're empowered to work at your own pace, while being part of a down-to-earth team that values career growth and community.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a mix of owners, start-up builders, and major volume builders. You'll be a trusted advisor across a range of matters, including:
Reviewing and advising on building contracts
Managing contract and defective works disputes
Representing clients in mediations, conciliations, and settlement negotiations
Handling VCAT and DBDRV disputes
Assisting with home warranty and insurance claims
Drafting compliance manuals for building contracts
Reviewing display village and marketing contracts
If you're passionate about construction law and want to make a real impact, this is your chance to do meaningful, hands-on work - without the long hours or high-pressure targets of big firms.
About You
We're looking for a lawyer who has:
Strong litigation experience, ideally in building & construction law
Experience across Supreme, County, Magistrates' Court and/or VCAT
Practical, client-focused problem-solving skills
LEAP experience (preferred but not essential)
A desire to grow your expertise and become experienced in construction law
This role offers real flexibility and long-term potential:
Hybrid working - 1-2 days WFH
Flexible hours
Ideal location for those based in Southwest Melbourne
Work-life balance - reasonable billables (approx. 4 per day)
Supportive mentorship and clear career growth opportunities
Client-focused work - not high-volume, high-pressure
Salary: $120K - $150K (depending on experience)
