Are you passionate about driving meaningful justice reforms and supporting the legal assistance sector? Join our specialist Strategic Policy Unit based in Darwin and play a key role in delivering projects that advance the National Access to Justice Partnership Agreement 2025-2030.
As a Project Officer in the Strategic Policy Unit, you’ll support the delivery of key justice reform initiatives. Working within a high-performing and collaborative team, you will help oversee significant policy developments, manage relationships with justice sector stakeholders, and assist in the administration of legal grant programs.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for researching, analysing, and providing expert advice on the development and review of policies and supporting processes that enable the effective implementation of the National Access to Justice Partnership Agreement 2025-2030.
You will plan and deliver projects in collaboration with NT Government agencies, Commonwealth Government agencies as well as the legal assistance sector, contributing to the development of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders will be critical to your success, along with preparing high-level correspondence, reports, Cabinet submissions, and ministerial and Legislative Assembly briefings.
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates a strong ability to research, interpret, and evaluate complex information from a variety of sources. You will have proven experience in project management, successfully coordinating and delivering projects within set timelines. Highly developed interpersonal skills are essential to build and sustain collaborative partnerships and networks that drive positive change and quality outcomes.
The role requires excellent organisational and analytical abilities, coupled with sound written and oral communication and negotiation skills. You will need to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively, work well under pressure, and contribute as a supportive team member within a politically sensitive environment.
While tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field are desirable, so is an understanding of the local justice context to help navigate the complexities of the sector effectively.
