Disability Support Worker – Thai Speaking

Location: Strathfield South

Shift Schedule: 24/7 rotating roster, including morning, evening, and sleepover shifts.

Pay Rate: Level 2.1 SCHADS Award + 25% casual loading

While this is a casual position, you will be scheduled for regular ongoing shifts to support work/life balance, with the potential to move into a permanent role.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking passionate Thai-speaking Disability Support Workers to join our culturally aligned SIL care team in Strathfield South.

Please note: Fluency in Thai is essential for this role due to participant requirements. If you do not speak Thai, we warmly invite you to apply to any other roles that may be available.

This position specifically supports participants who require team members who share their language and cultural background. Matching participants and staff culturally help remove communication barriers, enhances emotional wellbeing, and creates a familiar, safe, and empowering living environment.

Essential Criteria:

Fluency in Thai is essential (essential)

Experience supporting individuals with neurological disorders and behavioural changes

Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including overnight

Ample Life is a provider of Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Respite Accommodation (MTA/STA) for NDIS participants across Sydney. We specialise in culturally and linguistically aligned care services to participants from diverse backgrounds such as Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Indonesian, Korean, Italian, and many others.

About the Role

As a member of our SIL Care Team, you will be responsible for providing the best possible care to our residents. You must have prior experience in providing care to NDIS participants. You will work under the direction of our SIL Team Leader and provide participants with the support that aligns with their goals and care plans, assisting them in achieving independent living.

Your role includes

Supporting the participants with their daily routines, including supervisory, personal care, and social support.

Maintaining accurate progress notes and incident reports during shifts, documenting participant goals, achievements, and any issues that may arise.

Communicating effectively with participants, their families, and other support staff to ensure that individual needs and goals are met, while maintaining a high standard of best practice solutions and promoting accurate documentation/records.

Adhering to health and safety guidelines and identifying and reporting any hazards or incidents to ensure a safe and healthy living environment for participants.

Supporting participants in maintaining their independence and promoting their personal development by engaging them in community activities, and implementing programs centred on their individual needs and interests.

Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to disability support and improve service delivery.

Collaborating with other healthcare professionals such as doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists to provide coordinated care to participants and ensure their physical and mental health needs are met.

Maintaining confidentiality of participant information and respecting their privacy and dignity at all times.

To be considered for the position, you must have:

Relevant experience in providing personal support to people with disabilities, such as person-centred active support, individual skills development, behaviour support, manual handling, and personal care.

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including genuine and passionate commitment to the rights of people with a disability to enjoy fulfilled lives and valued roles within the community.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy environment and complete administrative tasks within designated timeframes with accuracy and high attention to detail.

Proven ability to work autonomously or in a team environment, great communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Able to maintain a safe environment and ensure compliance is always maintained.

Skilled at managing stressful situations while providing first-class care.
