Due to continued growth, GLW Freight is seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. This is a FIFO position operating on a 2/1 roster, with one week of days and one week of nights, flying from Adelaide. to Coober Pedy.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a modern fleet of heavy vehicles and equipment supporting haulage and mining operations. This is a hands-on role that requires strong fault-finding skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and preventative maintenance.

What You’ll Be Working On

New Kenworth C509 and T909 tri-drive trucks

Bruce Rock Engineering Quinn and Quad side tippers

CAT 988 and Komatsu WA600 loaders

Fleet of light vehicles and earthmoving machinery

Key Responsibilities

Perform scheduled servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance.

Diagnose and repair faults in diesel engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Respond to breakdowns and perform field repairs where necessary.

Complete service records, defect reports, and parts usage documentation.

Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and maintenance standards.

Work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, and other maintenance staff.

Requirements

Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).

Previous experience working with heavy road transport or mining equipment.

Proficient in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.

HR/HC/MC licence and high-risk work tickets (desirable).

Ability to work day and night shift in remote conditions.

Strong safety awareness and teamwork.
