St John of God Geraldton Hospital is a 60-bed private hospital providing high-quality comprehensive medical and surgical care to people who live within the Geraldton and Mid-West areas of Western Australia.
Your role
As an experienced Registered Nurse with a broad range of Theatre experience you will provide a high standard of patient care in the Operating Suite in accordance with standards set by the Hospital and relevant professional bodies.
St John of God Hospital Geraldton houses two operating theatres, one procedure room and a range of onsite diagnostic services, including medical imaging and pathology. The hospital also operates a Specialist Medical Centre that provides facilities for permanent and visiting medical practitioners, encompassing a range of medical specialties. You will be a valued member of our supportive and approachable multidisciplinary team.
The Position
- Develop and maintain appropriate clinical skills in Perioperative/Recovery Room nursing.
- Take responsibility for the allocated workload.
- Ensures a high standard of documentation.
- Liaise with other departments, doctors, patients and visitors as appropriate.
- Report difficult problems to the Clinical Nurse or Nurse Manager as appropriate.
- Actively and constructively participates in departmental meetings.
- Demonstrate ability to manage straight forward health problems in the Operating Suite.
- Serve as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.
- Participate actively in the EQuiP programs of the Operating Suite and the Hospital, assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Utilise all resources efficiently and cost effectively.
- Participate in the on-call roster as required by the Nurse Manager.
- Use Hospital equipment and other resources correctly and efficiently and act in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health requirements.
You will have highly effective interpersonal skills, well developed written and verbal communication, with pro-active problem solving ability to monitor and evaluate quality patient care.
To succeed you will hold registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and Occupational Safety and Health legislation, and commitment to own ongoing education and development.
Experience across all areas within a clinical perioperative environment, including Operating Suite, Recovery Room and Anaesthetics, will be highly regarded.
Flexibility with rostering and commitment to teamwork, with availability to participate in the on-call roster will be required.

- $79,755 to $102,048 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 12 % superannuation
- $50.29 to $64.35 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation
- Casual and part-time positions, working up to 36 hours per week
