We're on the lookout for a skilled Gardener to join our dynamic Parks & Gardens team – helping to maintain, develop and enhance some of our region’s most loved parks, gardens, playgrounds, and open spaces.
Whether you're trimming hedges, maintaining playgrounds, or bringing landscape designs to life, you'll be part of a team that takes pride in creating beautiful, safe, and sustainable environments for everyone to enjoy.
What You'll Be Doing:
Applying your horticultural know-how to care for gardens, turf, and green spaces.
Maintaining and mowing parks, playgrounds and streetscapes – keeping them in top shape year-round.
Operating a range of gear – from commercial mowers to irrigation systems.
Getting your hands dirty with landscaping, minor repairs, pruning, planting, and more.
Collaborating with a great crew – or working independently when required.
Contributing to a culture of safety, teamwork and community pride.
What You Bring to the Table:
A Certificate III in Horticulture (or similar) and hands-on experience in amenity horticulture.
Proven skills in maintaining garden beds, turf areas, and irrigation systems.
Confidence with machinery like mowers and motorised garden equipment.
A solid understanding of safe work practices and a proactive attitude to risk and maintenance.
Great communication skills and the ability to work both solo and in a team environment.
A current Driver’s Licence (Light Truck endorsement preferred).

The Rural City of Wangaratta was formed from the merger of the City of Wangaratta, the Shires of Oxley and Wangaratta and parts of the Shires of Beechworth, Benalla and Yarrawonga. Originally known as the Shire of Milawa when the municipality was created on 18 November 1994 it was renamed the Rural City of Wangaratta on 29 June 1995.
