About the role:

MOIRA Your Journey supports young people aged 15 -25 on their journey towards independence. Your Journey aims to support young people through development frameworks that equip young people with confidence and resources they need to live independently. Your Journey supports young people via Better Futures & Home Stretch, Targeted Care Packages and Housing & Homelessness services.

Your Journey aims to improve the outcomes of young people and enable them to achieve their goals and aspirations. Underpinned by the Advantage Thinking practice framework support is tailored to meet the individual needs of young people via individualised support to increase their social and economic participation.

The Youth Coach is a pivotal role which drives opportunities for young people to develop meaningful and sustainable relationships within their community. This is achieved by building access to new pathways, networks and resources. The Youth Coach provides support to young people related to the five life domains of Health and Wellbeing, Cultural and Community Connections, Education, Employment, and Housing.

Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, a Youth Coach walks alongside young people to build independence, set and achieve meaningful goals, and navigate complex systems with confidence. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact in a role that values flexibility, creativity, and genuine connection.

This role is Full time, fixed term - 12 months.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a Youth Coach response to a case load of young people receiving a multi-disciplinary service approach.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with young people, undertakes assessment and establishes a support plan in conjunction with the young person.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to initiate and maintain contacts with a broad range of service providers
  • Provide flexible, holistic and tailored coaching to young people, in line with the Advantage Thinking Framework.
  • Liaise closely with external professionals to support the journey of the young person in line with their identified goals.
  • Represent MOIRA at Care Team Meetings and community of practice sessions.
  • Work within the required funding framework, program guidelines and comply with statutory requirements where required.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all necessary records, report and case notes in accordance with funding and best practice guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Tertiary qualification in youth work, counselling, community services or other relevant discipline (or working towards this qualification).
  • Proven experience in the delivery of services to young people experiencing complex behaviours.
  • Direct capability in the delivery of services to young people
  • Experience working with young people with a leaving care background (highly regarded)
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence.
