About the role

We are seeking an experienced Yard Hand / Fleet Assistant to work in our busy and growing rental operations team.

The rental operation is a fast-paced environment, offering short- and long-term rentals of a diverse fleet of buses, utes, trucks and trailing equipment, providing variety in your working day.

The role is based on a minimum 38hr week Monday to Friday with additional weekends required on a rotational basis, flexible shift times, overtime available and reports directly to the Branch Manager.

Please note this role is both Yard Hand and Office Admin, with approx. 65% yard work and 35% admin work.

Key Responsibilities

Field inbound telephone enquiries

Preparation of rental reservations

Inspection of equipment - collections and returns

Generating short term rental quotes

Forging strong working relationships with our clients

Recording missed rental opportunities and following up with clients

Ensure compliance of cash and account clients in line with company policies

Be compliant with all health & safety legislations

Assist in other rental desk tasks as instructed by the branch manager

Complete pre hire and dehire paperwork

Pre hire and dehire photos

Alert customers of any damage then pass onto the workshop quickly

Be able to move fleet around the yard from trucks and trailers down to light vehicles

Be able to hook up and Road train eg two or more trailers on their own

Take customer calls and complete bookings and secure bonds

On call roster

Pass breakdowns onto the workshop manger or branch manger

The successful candidate will possess the following

A demonstrable experience in heavy transport equipment, rental experience will be considered a strong advantage.

Computer literate – training will be given on our internal software rental system

Strong attention to detail

Friendly, confident, and outgoing personality

Excellent organisation skills

Ability to work in a close-knit team and work unsupervised

Customer service experience is preferred

A "Can do" attitude is essential

Desire and commitment to working safely but efficiently

Must be physically fit and healthy with ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug/alcohol screening
