The position
This role is designed to support the needs of the young people in our programs identifying and transitioning to permanent arrangements through support and training of staff, assessment of, and direct work with, young people in the community in a well-managed residential setting.
Primary accountabilities of the role of House Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination and oversight of administrative matters such as rostering, leave, performance management, workload trends, identified training needs, assisting the Area Manager in budgetary matters, employee relations, house and vehicle security, program accounts such as petty cash and other resource control.
- Promote safe and stable accommodation for young people which enhances functioning in and/or participation in community living.
- Supporting staff through reflective supervision, guidance, and strategic long term goal setting, as well as training and coaching.
- Working in consultation with HR and the Area Manager, lead performance management activities with staff when required.
- Supporting the assessment needs of young people and working in partnership with internal services and external agencies to address these needs.
- Collaborate with Therapeutic Specialist and Caseworker as part of treatment team, accountable for ensuring all responsibilities associated with care planning and behavioral management are up to date and communicated to Youth Workers.
- Coordinating all activities associated with the residential home, ensuring an emotionally positive and physically stable environment for staff and residents.
- Supporting the delivery of Marist180 trauma-inform model of care, providing leadership and supervision to direct reports.
- Deliver effective operational, administrative, and financial management of the residential home.
- Coordination of recruitment process for staff and carers including shortlisting, interviewing, and ensuring all relevant checks are undertaken.
- Ensure all practices are consistent with Marist180 policies, and procedures as well as sector standards.
- Effectively communicate WHS to ensure regulatory and organisational compliance and promptly address or refer WHS issues bought to your attention in consultation with those involved or affected.
The role will require to participate in the on-call roster (roughly 2 times a year for one week each).
The candidate
Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or similar field.
- Relevant Diploma in Social Work, Human Services or similar field and working towards a bachelor’s degree (must be enrolled and undertaking studies).
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practices.
Experience & Skills:
- Previous experience in working with children and young people experiencing complex trauma and working with families within the child protection system.
- Demonstrated experience in working with the issues faced by children and young people impacted by complex trauma, and a demonstrated capacity to assist staff to support young people.
- Experience in a leadership role within the industry.
- Ability to manage and recruit staff.
- Sound communication skills and experience liaising with key stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams.
Work Requirement
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Clear National Criminal History Check.
- Unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- Provide M180 consent to complete a verification of the Residential Care Workers Register managed by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
Immediate availability is preferred.
