The Team:
In the role of Senior Physiotherapist (Acute Surgery) you will provide optimal evidence-based physiotherapy to patients at the Royal Hobart Hospital and Physiotherapy Service. In this role you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment across clinical areas to deliver evidence driven patient centred care. Clinical areas include general surgery, surgical specialties, cardiothoracic surgery, and supporting the team in the areas of trauma, neurosurgery and critical care.
As a member of the physiotherapy service, you will contribute to a culture of learning and foster leadership and innovation.
The Role:
The Senior Physiotherapist –Acute Surgery will perform duties including:
• Provide evidence driven, patient centred physiotherapy care to patients across the acute and subacute areas, facilitating patient flow, discharge planning and optimising patient outcomes.
• Promote a learning culture supporting leadership and clinical supervision to rotational physiotherapists, allied health assistants and undergraduate students.
• Provide clinical expertise and professional education to Physiotherapy, Allied Health, Medical and Nursing teams, and external agencies.
• Foster innovation and support quality improvement and service delivery projects.

You will need:
- Significant general and specific physiotherapist experience relevant to the identified clinical area/unit in conjunction with sound knowledge of relevant contemporary physiotherapy practice including assessment, intervention techniques, literature, resources and equipment.
- Proven commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to supervise and educate other health professionals, undergraduate students and support workers and a continuing contribution to knowledge in the identified clinical area/unit.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a complex multidisciplinary environment.

Details of appointment:
fixed term full time, day worker (on-call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 28 February 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
- Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
