Zeehan Primary School is a small, community-focused school within Tasmania’s rugged and beautiful West Coast. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit school environment, supported by the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP).

What we're offering

  • $5,000 settling-in payment for relocating to Zeehan (2-year commitment required)
  • Annual retention bonuses starting at $3,138 and increasing up to $6,281 for continued service

About the Role

To implement and manage appropriate learning programs for students and to assess individual student progress.

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - ASAP start date

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

70 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

  • Classification and progression are based upon training, qualifications, and satisfactory performance.
  • Progression to Band 1 Level 13 requires an employee to have been at Band 1 Level 12 for 12 months or more and have full teacher registration as certified by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania).
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • A registered teacher with full registration within the meaning of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.
  • Current certificate of registration; or provisional registration; or limited authority to teach granted by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000. Please note that a person with a limited authority to teach can only be employed on a fixed-term basis.
  • Under the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award.

Desirable Requirements

  • Four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005
