About the role

SIQ have an increased demand for our services and are looking to expand our workforce and labour hire pool.

The role includes the fabrication and installation of welded components, weld repair and reclamation, as well as qualified welding labour projects.

We pride ourselves on providing welded fabrication in accordance with Australian and International standards. We do so by ensuring that our team of boilermaker welders are qualified to standards, client requirements, and welding in accordance qualified welding procedures.

All company personnel are required to follow company Quality Assurance procedures and adhering to Quality Control requirements to ensure weld, consumable, and material traceability.

We wish to have a progressive workplace, and all employees are required to engage in company training and toolbox talks to develop continuous improvement and provide quality products with minimal rework.

You will be expected to complete any required site inductions in a timely manner.

Weekend and night work is part of the projects we undertake so expect to work Saturdays and Sundays as needed.

Successful applicants will have:

Certificate III in Engineering - Welding / Heavy Fabrication (or equivalent trade qualification)

Must have strong fabrication skills

Focussed attention to detail and quality of work

Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of technical drawings.

Be a hard-working team player and can work with minimal supervisory direction.

Strong work ethic, accountable, energetic and motivated, quick learner, and deliver outstanding results.

Able to respond to deadlines with appropriate effort and attention to safety.

Good with attendance - reliability is particularly important to us

Skilled & experienced in FCAW, MMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes

AS1796 tickets

Ability to pass a weld test to ISO 9606.1 in the following position(s) and process(s):

4G or 2G & 3G using FCAW process

4G or 2G & 3G using MMAW process

6G using GTAW process

2G GMAW process

Construction White Card

Minimum of C class Manual Drivers Licence

Working at Heights (valid within 2 years)

Confined Space (valid within 2 years)

EWP over 11M (WP)

Current Resume and two recent professional references

Own transport and basic tools

Highly desirable:

Certificate IV in Engineering - Welding, Heavy Fabrication (or equivalent trade qualification)

Ticketed, skilled & experienced in a variety of welding processes (FCAW, MMAW, GTAW, GMAW, Laser)

Relevant experience in Plate Work, Pipework, Structural Fabrication (+/- 2mm), and Pressure Piping/Vessels.

Robotic welding, set up, programming, etc

Current or previous inductions at InfraBuild, NCIG, Orica, PWCS, TAC, and other operations in and around the Greater Newcastle and Hunter Region.

Other High Risk Work Licences and Licence Class, such as;

Forklift Licence (LF)

Dogman (DG)

Basic Rigging (RB)

Heavy Rigid (HR) or Medium Rigid (MR)
