What you will be doing
In this role, you will lead the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of complex care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring their clinical, psychosocial, and cultural needs are met. You will act as a clinical resource for the team, mentor nursing staff, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor care plans that reduce risk, prevent harm, and optimise health outcomes. You will actively contribute to ward-based quality improvement projects, clinical governance activities, and the development of local protocols that align with MNCLHD priorities and NSW Health policy. Your role will also include identifying and addressing gaps in care, escalating clinical concerns appropriately, and supporting safe transitions of care across hospital and community settings.
The MNCLHD are currently seeking a Grade 2 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our amazing team at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.

You are a clinically skilled and forward-thinking Clinical Nurse Specialist with demonstrated expertise in delivering and coordinating evidence-based, person-centred care in a busy acute medical ward environment. You thrive in situations requiring advanced clinical judgement, rapid problem-solving, and multidisciplinary collaboration, and you are committed to embedding NSW Health CORE values into every interaction. You bring a proven track record in leading clinical initiatives that enhance patient safety, improve continuity of care, and meet the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards particularly Standard 5: Comprehensive Care. Your communication style builds trust with patients, families, and colleagues, and you are confident in advocating for patient needs while supporting junior staff and fostering a high-performance team culture.

Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) covers an area of 11,335 square kilometres extending from Port Macquarie Hastings Local Government Area in the south to Coffs Harbour Local Government Area in the north.
