We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team in a permanent fulltime role based in Mackay CBD.
About this opportunity:
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our community by monitoring and managing environmental health risks. You will work closely with various stakeholders to implement and enforce health regulations, conduct inspections, and provide expert advice on environmental health matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, public facilities, and other relevant sites to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Investigate complaints and incidents related to environmental health and take appropriate action.
- Provide guidance and support to businesses and the public on environmental health issues.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address environmental health concerns.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of inspections and investigations.
- Participate in public health education and outreach programs.
Applicants must be available for on-call duties.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor of Health Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification recognised for membership with Environmental Health Australia Membership Details.
- QLD 'C' Class driver's licence.
- Relevant experience as an Environmental Health or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of relevant environmental health legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and mitigate environmental health risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders and the community.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing multiple priorities and adhering to deadlines.
- Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Paid Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment - No Card, No Start policy.
