Employment Type: 12-month fixed-term contract with option to extend for an additional 12 months

Remuneration: $500-700 per day inclusive of superannuation (rate dependent on skills and experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Test Analyst at APS5 level to join our team supporting the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). This role involves hands-on testing and validation of data quality, integration, and functional processes within the Agency's data and reporting environments. You will be a key contributor to ensuring data accuracy and completeness across enterprise data warehouse and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms that underpin important disability support services for Australians.
Reporting to the ADA QA Lead/Manager, you will be responsible for developing test plans, creating detailed test cases, executing data and system integration tests, supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and producing comprehensive test documentation and reports. You will work closely with developers, business analysts, testers, and third-party vendors to coordinate defect triage and drive timely resolution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Test Plans aligned with the overall Test Strategy, project release schedules, and delivery methodology.
Design and author detailed Test Execution Plans and Test Cases traced directly to project requirements and design documentation, specifying test steps, data needs, prerequisites, and success criteria.
Conduct rigorous data testing, functional testing, and system integration testing based on documented Test Cases.
Support and assist during UAT phases to ensure quality deliverables.
Author and distribute clear test summary reports and status updates (daily and weekly) on testing progress.
Collaborate effectively with Application Developers, Business Analysts, Test Analysts, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and external vendors to review test artifacts and manage defect logs.
Facilitate defect triage meetings to prioritize and expedite resolution of issues impacting delivery timelines.
Continuously identify opportunities to improve testing processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
About the Team
The Data and Insurance Branch plays a vital role in supporting the NDIA by delivering high-quality data, reporting, and analytical insights that drive measurable improvements in business performance. Our team manages the Agency's enterprise data warehouse and reporting platforms and develops innovative Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to identify trends and key drivers impacting participant outcomes.
Essential Criteria
Strong understanding of data quality principles and testing methodologies: Proven knowledge of data validation, anomaly detection, and testing best practices applied within complex data environments.
At least 3 years' hands-on experience analyzing and testing data quality: Skilled in identifying data integrity issues, integration faults, and functional anomalies, with the ability to validate data accuracy and completeness rigorously.
Hands-on experience or prolonged exposure to data warehouse concepts and ETL processes: Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL tools, and data warehousing architectures.
Highly experienced in writing comprehensive test cases: Ability to author clear, concise, and traceable test cases that map directly to requirements and design documents.
Intermediate to advanced SQL skills: Comfortable writing complex queries for data validation, defect analysis, and troubleshooting.
Desirable Criteria
Experience using JIRA or equivalent tools for manual testing and defect tracking.
Ability to collaborate closely with business stakeholders, developers, BAs, and other project team members to drive quality outcomes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey testing progress, issues, and recommendations.
Experience testing Business Analytics Dashboards and Reports across multiple domains, ensuring data integrity and functional correctness.
Working Arrangements
This position offers a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite and flexible arrangements for the remaining 2 days, subject to line manager approval and current NDIA policies.
Candidates must be willing and able to work from one of the locations specified (ACT, NSW, or VIC).
Full-time hours at 37.5 hours per week.
Mandatory Requirements
Australian citizenship is mandatory; candidates must provide valid proof of citizenship during pre-engagement checks.
No security clearance required for this role.
Remuneration
Daily rates are negotiable within the $500-700 range inclusive of superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
