Our public sector client is seeking a Librarian to join their team on a temporary contract, full-time basis. The role will be working 5 days per week/ 7.5 hours per day. This position is located within Perth's Western suburbs near to public transport and parking. The role will be working in a medium-sized and supportive team. This position is responsible for the organisation's library system and resources for the benefit of the community.

Your new role

• Manage Spydus system and support team.
  
• Oversee resource selection, acquisition, and cataloguing.
  
• Assist with reference queries and deliver excellent customer service.
  
• Support Library Officers and supervise volunteers/students.
  
• Handle ordering and expenditure per policy.
  
• Maintain public areas and collections.
  
• Represent the organisation in library meetings.
  
• With Manager: collect stats, run programs/events, promote BVCC, prepare rosters, apply for grants, and collaborate with the community.
  
• Participate in safety activities and report hazards/incidents.
  
• Deliver quality customer service and foster workplace harmony.
  
• Use resources efficiently and follow purchasing practices.
  
• Maintain public relations and records.
  
• Apply continuous improvement to tasks.
  
• Support process reviews and celebrate improvements.
  

What you'll need to succeed

• Tertiary qualification in Information and Library Studies, with eligibility for ALIA membership.
  
• Proven experience in developing and managing library collections.
  
• Strong grasp of customer service principles and ability to engage with diverse clientele.
  
• Proficient in computer use and open to adopting new technologies.
  
• Solid understanding of Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2).
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  
• Possession of a current, valid Working with Children Check.
  
• Familiarity with SPYDUS library management software would be highly desired.
  
• Awareness of the structure and operations within the local government sector would be preferable.
