The Position
Manjimup Home and Community Care is currently seeking applications from people interested in or working in the Aged and Disability Sector. Join our friendly team to support individuals in maintaining their independence in a community setting.
The roles responsibilities include:
Activities relating to domestic assistance, such as cleaning kitchens, bathrooms and other household areas (contributes largely to the positions duties).
Activities relating to personal hygiene and grooming, meal preparation, and minor maintenance tasks.
Assisting individuals to regain skills in everyday activities and / or retain existing skills to their optimal level.
Transporting individuals to local and out of town medical appointments.
Activities of interest in the home and local community including active companionship and socialisation. Includes assistance accessing agencies or services related to aged / disabled care.
Respite support in consumers’ home.
Provision of regular reports to the line manager and maintaining active communication regarding changes to individual’s condition, circumstances and service delivery.
Ensuring that individual records are legible and all appropriate information is documented and filed in a systematic way.
Ensuring that consumer confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Opportunity for respite support shifts in the Manjimup Wellness and Respite Community Centre (which may include overnight respite).
Selection Criteria
The ideal applicant will have the following skills and experience:
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability, Aged Care, Home and Community Care or Community Services) qualification, or commitment to working towards and commitment to relevant training.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and written.
Demonstrated ability to work with and provide assistance to individuals from a diverse range of social, financial and cultural backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and display time management skills.
Demonstrated physical fitness to endure prolonged standing and walking activities and the ability to push a wheelchair.
Roadworthy, fully insured vehicle suitable for carrying individuals with limited or restricted mobility and a variety of assistive equipment.
C Class drivers licence (with PTD authorisation) (Desirable).
Previous experience in a Community Care environment and/or supporting older people or people with a disability living in their own homes (Desirable).

About Shire of Manjimup
The Shire’s district was first included as a part of the Plantagenet Wellington and Sussex Road Districts in 1871 and later in the Nelson Road Board District. The Warren Road District was formed on 3 July 1908 and changed to the Manjimup Road District in June 1925. With the enactment of the Local Government Act 1960, the Manjimup Road District name was changed to Shire of Manjimup on 1 July 1961. The Shire celebrated its Centenary in 2008 having provided over 100 years of service to the district.
The Shire of Manjimup is proud of its natural and cultural heritage and works with the community to protect, enhance and interpret this. The Shire's Planning and Environment Department is responsible for the protection of cultural heritage through the provisions of the Local Planning Scheme. It also is responsible for the operation of the Municipal Heritage Inventory for the Shire. The Community Services Directorate supports the development of heritage interpretation in response to community and tourism needs and according to the Shire of Manjimup Heritage Connections Project Implementation Plan.
There are a number of historical societies in the Shire of Manjimup. They collect, record, classify and preserve historic records and engage with the local community and visitors in interpretation of the area’s history.
