More than a roof over their head, our team works with young people to understand who they are and what they want to do. Then, we work together to develop the skills and access the support they need to look after themselves and move on.
Your role at St John of God Social Outreach HH
We are currently seeking motivated Youth Workers to join our Horizon House service in Wilson and Wanneroo, on a permanent part-time basis.
One position at Wilson and Wanneroo, fortnightly hours 54, these are overnight shifts with a sleep allowance. Monday: 15:00pm - 08:30am, Tuesdays: 16:30pm - 08:30am, Wednesdays: 16:30pm-10:00am.
One position at Wilson, overnight shifts with a sleep allowance, fortnightly hours 38. Week 1: Friday 14:30pm-08:30am, Saturday 16:30pm-08:30am, Sunday 16:30pm - 10:30am. Week 2: Thursday 15:00pm-09:00am.
The Position
- Provide safe and stable long-term accommodation to a young people who are at risk of being homelessness.
- Able to provide outreach, therapeutic and practical support to meet the continuum of care arrangements for young people with complex needs.
- Assist young people to realise their aspirations and potential integration into mainstream society.
- Provide support to young people in areas including independent living skills, involvement in education, training and employment services.
- Enhance a young person's wellbeing and personal development through engagement with the broader resources and supports available in the community.
- Monitor and respond to the supportive and developmental needs of young people in a manner suited to their culture, gender and developmental needs.
- Engage in an emphatic way with young people to effectively maintain strong relationships to allow effective outcomes of case management.
You will have a sound understanding of the special needs of adolescents and trauma-informed care, together with recent experience working with at-risk young people, extensive experience in an area related to youth work and knowledge of the Privacy Legislation and Occupational, Health & Safety Act Regulations.
Successful applicants will hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar, State's Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Card.

We can offer:
- Salary: $76,621 to $82,169 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation
- Overnight allowance
- Permanent part time, 27 hour per week
