Our client, a tier one gold company is seeking a skilled Operational Technology Specialist to join their team and play a key role in delivering and optimising digital technology across their mining operations. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of IT and OT and is passionate about making technology work seamlessly in challenging environments.
Key responsibilities:
Partner with project teams to ensure OT requirements are considered early in scoping and design – aligning timelines, budgets, and resources
Provide on-site expertise in IT/OT systems, bridging the gap between digital technology and physical mining operations
Advise on risk mitigation for technology projects, ensuring alignment with company standards, IT/OT policies, and industry regulations
Support the rollout and integration of new technologies that drive safer, more efficient workflows
Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure smooth handovers from project implementation to full operational readiness, backed by thorough documentation
Contribute to management of change processes, ensuring all changes are well-documented, approved, tested, and successfully deployed
Identify opportunities to upgrade and enhance operational technology systems for improved reliability
Spot process improvement opportunities and help implement innovative OT solutions
Provide technical guidance and support to on-site electrical and communications teams in areas including:
Instrumentation, process control, automation, and functional safety
Industrial data networks and systems
Tele-remote and guidance systems.
What we’re looking for:
Tertiary qualifications or trade certification in IT, communications, engineering, or a related technical field
Demonstrated experience in Operational Technology, with hands-on expertise in industrial control systems, automation, and IT/OT infrastructure
Previous experience working in remote mining environments (gold or base metals preferred)
Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, PLC systems, and networking technologies (TCP/IP, wi-fi, ethernet, fibre optics)
Understanding of remote operation technologies for underground mining (advantageous)
Current Western Australian “C” class driver’s licence.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact on site technology, work across multidisciplinary teams, and be at the forefront of digital innovation in mining.
Unfortunately, we are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
