Position Overview
We are seeking experienced and resilient Mental Health Support Workers to join a dedicated 2:1 team in Broadmeadows supporting a participant with complex psychosocial disability, intellectual impairment, and forensic history. The role involves working across morning, afternoon, and active awake night shifts as part of a rotating 24/7 roster.
This participant presents with high-risk behaviours including verbal and physical aggression, property damage, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Staff must be equipped to manage and respond to these behaviours while fostering a respectful, structured and trauma-informed environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide active, person-centred support to a participant with dual diagnoses in mental health and disability.
Respond effectively to crisis behaviours such as self-injury, aggression, and suicidal ideation.
Adhere to and implement Behaviour Support Plans and strategies and contribute to ongoing risk assessments.
Complete comprehensive documentation and incident reporting to a high standard and within required timeframes
Maintain clear and timely documentation and incident reporting.
Participate in regular training and development opportunities.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including behaviour support practitioners, clinical leads, and management.
Promote empowerment, independence, and respectful communication at all times.
Encourage capacity building to enhance clients’ current skills, such as hygiene, safe relationships, domestic duties, using public transport and accessing the community safely.
Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Foster a psychologically safe and culturally sensitive support environment.
About You
You are calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and committed to supporting individuals with complex needs. You have a trauma-informed understanding of behaviour, you are respectful of participant rights, boundaries, and experiences.

Qualifications and Requirements
Certificate III or higher in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or related field
Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in high-intensity or complex behaviour support
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with Children Check
First Aid and CPR Certificate
Valid Australian Driver's Licence and reliable transport
Australian Working Rights
Willingness to work across mornings, afternoons, and active nights, including weekends and public holidays
