About the role
The Mater Private Administration Team has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Senior Administration Officer to join the Inpatients Administration Team working as a Ward Clerk on the Surgical Ward 10 East. This role is Part Time 64 Hours a Fortnight (4 days per week, 8-hour shifts).
Salary range: $39.79 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The purpose of this position is to provide exceptional administration support to the clinical area. The key accountabilities for the role include but are not limited to:
- Manage, organize and provide confidential administrative support to the department ensuring areas are efficiently managed, representing Mater with strong customer focus to staff, patients and visitors
- Ability to respond competently in emergency situations, remaining calm and composed and to ‘think on your feet’
- Performing administrative functions as required, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures working closely with the Nursing Unit Manager and Clinical Team
- Ensure effective, accurate and timely communications with staff and clients, communicating with sensitivity and discretion
- Provide accurate data entry using various network-based information systems to effectively manage patient admissions, discharges and transfers in a timely and accurate manner
- Carry out other administration functions as directed by your Team Leader/Manager
- Exercise judgement where necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined
About you
To make this role your own, you will have:
- High level of customer service, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administration support in a timely and organized manner
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients and visitors
- Accurate data entry skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office/Outlook
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively within a busy, demanding and fast paced environment
