About the Institute

The Central Institute of Technology and Innovation (the Institute) is an innovative new higher education provider based in Surry Hills, Sydney. The Institute is currently seeking registration with TEQSA and accreditation of its initial course offerings.

Pending TEQSA registration and course accreditation, the Institute plans to deliver a distinctive, on-campus higher education experience that is internationally focused, grounded in an innovative curriculum, and supported by a highly engaged learning environment.

The Institute intends to offer higher education programs designed to equip students with the practical and theoretical skills required to meet the demands of an increasingly technology-driven workplace, both nationally and internationally. Through a combination of traditional learning methods and innovative pedagogy, the Institute aspires to recruit high-quality academic staff and industry professionals to create an academically rigorous and professionally relevant student experience.

The Institute’s proposed Bachelor and Masters-level courses in Information Technology and Innovation have been designed to align with robust academic standards and, pending TEQSA approval, will prepare graduates for globally mobile careers with the personal and professional skills required for the workplaces of the future.

Position Overview

The Student Services Officer is a casual entry-level position that plays a key role in supporting the successful establishment and operation of the Institute. This is a varied and dynamic role that involves direct student engagement, administrative support, and event coordination. The successful candidate will assist in creating a vibrant campus life and inclusive student experience. The Student Services officer will contribute to internal and external communications (including social media) and support senior personnel including the CEO, General Managers, Dean, and Director of Learning and Teaching.

This role will suit someone with a proactive attitude, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a genuine interest in working in a multicultural education environment with International students.

This is a casual, entry-level, on-campus role that is ideal for a student. This position is for weekday (business hours) work only, with no evenings or weekends required, except for occasional student or Institute events. Must be an Australian citizen and able to work on campus (no hybrid, WFH).

Key Responsibilities

Respond to student enquiries in a timely, friendly, and professional manner via phone, email, and in person.

Assist in the planning and coordination of student activities, welcome sessions, and social events.

Provide basic administrative support to senior staff as required.

Contribute to the creation and scheduling of social media content related to student life and campus events.

Assist with student onboarding, orientation, and general information provision.

Maintain accurate student records and filing systems.

Prepare and format documents and presentations using Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).

Provide on-the-ground support in setting up new systems and processes as the Institute grows.

Perform general office duties and other tasks as directed.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Must be over 18 to apply

Completion of Year 12 or equivalent.

Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and basic Excel.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Friendly and professional manner with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Demonstrated interest in working with international students and in the higher education sector.

Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Desirable

Previous experience in a customer service, hospitality, or administrative role.

Experience managing or contributing to social media platforms.

Knowledge of, or interest in student engagement and support initiatives.

Experience as an international student (e.g. study abroad).

Additional Information

This role is classified as HEW Level 2, Step 1 and is remunerated at $41.13 per hour.

This is a casual position with 10-20 hours per week.

Hours will be set weekly and can be negotiated to accommodate study schedules.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support student events or operational needs.

Training and support will be provided.

The role is based in Surry, Hills Sydney.
