Criminal Lawyer – No Billable Targets, Integrity-Driven Practice
At TASIC Legal, we do things differently. We’re a boutique criminal law firm based in Perth, working on complex and high-profile matters, but without the pressure of billable targets.
We put care and quality first - for our clients and our team. It’s an approach that’s earned us lasting referrals, Doyle’s Guide recognition every year since we began, and growing demand for what we do. Now, we’re looking for the right person to join us.
About the Role
Our practice spans a wide range of criminal and restraining order matters in courts throughout Western Australia. Depending on your experience, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct your own trials and brief counsel on more complex matters. You’ll work across a mix of advocacy, legal drafting, and direct client management.
This is a full-time role, but part-time may be considered for the right candidate. We support flexible working arrangements, including working from home when court or client commitments allow.
To Be Successful in This Role
You will:
Have experience in criminal law (defence or prosecution)
Demonstrate genuine care for clients and a desire to practise law with care and precision
Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
Have strong written and oral advocacy skills
Be open to mentoring and feedback, and committed to contributing meaningfully to the team
Be interested in practising in both criminal and restraining order matters (prior experience in restraining order work is not essential)
Private practice experience is preferred but not essential - we offer mentoring and support to lawyers transitioning into this setting.
What We Offer
A supportive, respectful, and inclusive environment
The opportunity to conduct your own trials when you’re ready, and to brief counsel in more complex matters
Real mentoring and exposure to quality legal work and courtroom advocacy
A beautifully renovated federation-style office and on-site parking
Flexibility to support work-life balance
Discretionary benefits, including:
CPD reimbursement
Payment of practising certificate fees
Values-based bonuses (e.g. performance outcomes, professional development, or client feedback)
Ready to Learn More?
If you’re considering a move into private practice or just curious about a different way to work, we’d be happy to have a confidential conversation.
We know criminal law is a small and specialised area, and making enquiries can feel daunting. All expressions of interest are treated discreetly, respectfully, and without pressure.
