Carpenter Beef’s - Joanna Plains Farm, Feedlot & Backgrounding Facility is located just 140 km north of Perth in Cataby, Western Australia. We are proud to be a significant contributor to the cattle industry and a major supplier of high-quality protein both locally and internationally.
Our integrated operation spans over 16,000 acres, supporting cattle agistment for breeder lines and backgrounding for steers and heifers in preparation for feedlot entry. Facilities include:
A 10,000-head grain-based backgrounding program
A 3,200-head NFAS-accredited feedlot
A comprehensive pivot irrigation system for forage and silage production
A dryland cropping program (soon to commence) to further enhance our capabilities
The Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team in the role of Feedlot, Feed Mill & Livestock Hand.
Note: To be considered for this role, applicants must be Australian permanent residents with unrestricted full-time working rights.
Unfortunately, short-term visa holders are not eligible, as this position is not suitable for temporary or limited employment arrangements.
Primary Responsibilities
Daily animal husbandry and welfare checks
Feed bunk and water trough cleaning and maintenance
Operation of machinery including: John Deere 8 Series Tractors, JCB Telehandlers & Loaders, Supreme Feed Mixing Wagons
Assisting with cattle movements across the feedlot
Preparing and delivering feed rations
Pen walking and monitoring cattle health
Assisting with receiving commodity deliveries
Grain transfer and milling
Maintenance of feedlot infrastructure (fencing, water systems, etc.)
Accurate data collection and entry using our BMS feedlot software
Daily prestart checks on all vehicles, plant and equipment
Assisting with site-wide routine and preventative maintenance
Ideal Candidate Profile
Current Australian driver’s licence and own vehicle
Genuine passion for the agriculture and cattle industry
Strong time management and task prioritisation skills
Team player with solid communication, reliability, and a positive attitude
Computer literacy preferred
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team
Takes pride in work, demonstrates accountability and ownership
Previous livestock handling experience, especially with cattle, is highly desirable
Willingness to follow all WHS policies and procedures
Machinery operation experience preferred (wheel loaders, telehandlers, skid steer, tractors)
Desirable but not essential qualifications: ChemCert, First Aid, Low-Stress Stock Handling, HR Driver’s Licence
