The Chief Information Officer Division delivers a broad range of enabling ICT services and operational support to the department and Australian businesses, playing a key role in modernising systems and driving digital innovation across the portfolio.
They are seeking a skilled Enterprise Architect to help establish and mature enterprise architecture practices across the organisation. This role will shape strategic planning and digital transformation initiatives that align with departmental goals.
Key duties and responsibilities
Design and implement an enterprise architecture framework tailored to the department’s needs.
Develop strategies, roadmaps, and key enterprise architecture artefacts—such as business capability models and technical landscape overviews—and establish processes to ensure they remain accurate and up to date.
Build on existing architecture governance to support consistent and scalable practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders across business and ICT to ensure architecture is understood, adopted, and actionable.
Advise and guide on technologies that support business capabilities and enterprise needs, ensuring alignment with project and organisational goals.
Coach and educate team members and stakeholders on architecture best practices, helping them improve how they plan, design, and deliver solutions.
Essential criteria
5+ years’ experience as an Enterprise Architect, ideally within Australian Government departments.
Proven ability to design and implement enterprise architecture frameworks and artefacts in complex environment
Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies and frameworks such as TOGAF.
Demonstrated experience translating strategic objectives into actionable architecture deliverables.
Criteria

Essential criteria
1. 5+ years’ experience as an Enterprise Architect, ideally within Australian Government departments.
2. Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies and frameworks such as TOGAF.
3. Demonstrated experience translating strategic objectives into actionable architecture deliverables. Proven ability to design and implement enterprise architecture frameworks and artefacts in complex environment
4. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across business and technical domains.
5. Ability to coach and support teams in applying architecture best practices and improving solution design.
6. Deep understanding of Australian Government digital policies, architecture standards, and whole-of-government strategies—including alignment with and reporting obligations to the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA)
