Gatenby Criminal Lawyers was established on the Gold Coast in 2011 as a boutique criminal law firm with our office located across the road from the Southport Courthouse. We have an extensive and established client base and are considered one of Queensland's leading criminal law firms. Our team appear throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and the Northern Territory representing our clients in all aspects of criminal defence, domestic violence, traffic and child safety matters.
We are an ever growing, busy law firm looking to add to our team:-
Solicitor (1 to 3 years post admission).
Graduate Solicitor.
What you'll be doing
Prepare and manage criminal defence cases, conducting thorough research, considering evidence, and developing robust legal strategies.
Represent clients in court daily in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Court throughout Queensland.
Collaborate with clients, families, and other stakeholders to understand their unique circumstances and provide personalised support.
Stay up-to-date with changes in criminal law and regulations to ensure the delivery of informed and tailored advice.
Maintain meticulous case records and documentation to support the firm's legal proceedings.
What we're looking for
Admitted solicitor with a minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience in criminal law, ideally gained in a similar law firm or legal aid organisation.
A graduate lawyer looking to embrace the challenges of a criminal defence firm.
Demonstrated expertise in criminal law, including a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, case law, and court procedures in the Queensland Magistrates, District and Supreme Court.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines with a calm and professional demeanour.
Genuine passion for criminal law and a commitment to upholding the rights of our clients.
A valid drivers licence is essential as travel to other jurisdictions is necessary.
The ability to obtain a Queensland Practicing Certificate upon employment.
Knowledge of Legal Aid Queensland and Duty Lawyer accreditation would be beneficial.
