From 2026, teaching staff assigned will also have a 0.1 FTE pastoral care allocation built into their load. A 30% fee discount applies for staff children. Staff may also participate in co-curricular programs, which fall outside the standard classroom teaching hours.

About the Role

The Senior Music Teacher will work within the Arts Faculty and play a key role in the school’s well-established and traditional music program. With double the number of ensembles typically found in other schools, the department is central to the school’s identity, supporting productions, events, and whole-school celebrations.

The position is full-time, supported by an Instrumental Music team, and reports directly to the Head of Arts.

Skills and Responsibilities

Deliver engaging classroom music lessons to senior students

Lead or support ensembles, events, and whole-school performances

Work collaboratively with Arts Faculty colleagues and music specialists

Foster student participation and excellence in music

Contribute to the broader co-curricular and pastoral programs of the school

Requirements

Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration

Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential for this role

Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements
