The Mater Private Hospital Brisbane Intensive Care Unit is looking a Registered Nurse for a casual opportunity.
The Mater Private Intensive Care Unit have a friendly and skilled team that excels in caring for a variety of patient groups including complex surgical patients, life-threatening medical conditions and critically ill oncology/haematology patients.
Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus 12% superannuation and casual loading and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
About the role
The Mater Private Hospital Brisbane Intensive Care Unit is looking a Registered Nurse for a casual opportunity.
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our experienced and welcoming ICU team. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary group of clinicians who are committed to delivering exceptional care to patients with complex and high acuity needs, including critically ill haematology/oncology patients, life threatening medical conditions, and post complex surgery. Our team takes pride in providing patient centred care in a supportive environment that values collaboration, clinical excellence, and professional growth.

What you’ll be doing
As a Registered Nurse in ICU, you will have a strong patient-service focus, demonstrated commitment to continued service improvement, willingness to facilitate and encourage cohesive, positive professional relationships and be required to demonstrate problem-solving skills to improve patient care outcomes relevant to the ward.
- Deliver advanced evidence-based nursing care to patients requiring complex interventions such as mechanical ventilation and renal replacement therapy
- Monitor and interpret clinical data, using critical thinking and clinical judgement to problem solve and respond to changes in condition
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to develop and implement individualised care plans
- Advocate for and communicate effectively with patients and their families throughout complex and often challenging clinical journeys
- Engage in continuous learning and maintain up to date critical care knowledge and skills
About you
To be considered for this position you will have:
- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ acute hospital experience
- Completed or committed to completing an ICU Transition Support Program
- Ability to work a flexible roster consisting of 12-hour shifts, 50% day/night split
Highly favourable:
- Graduate Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing
- Recent working experience in Intensive Care
